VoIP Onboarding FAQ
This article details the step-by-step process of porting phone numbers to Peerlogic, emphasizing the importance of maintaining existing service until porting is complete and ensuring accurate documentation to avoid disruptions.
VoIP Onboarding FAQ:
Can I Port My Numbers Before My Onboarding is Complete?
- The porting process begins after your onboarding is completed.
- We first test your Peerlogic phone system to ensure all calls are routing correctly.
- This approach helps avoid any service disruptions or missed calls.
What Happens Between the FOC (Firm Order Commitment) and the Actual Port Date?
- During onboarding, we forward calls from your main number to a temporary Peerlogic number already provisioned in your account.
- Your current phone system remains fully operational-you can continue making and receiving calls without interruption.
- Once onboarding is finalized, our team submits the port request, which typically takes 3-5 business days if all documentation is complete.
When Should I Cancel My Existing Phone Service?
- Do not cancel service with your current provider until all your numbers have successfully ported to Peerlogic.
- Even though your provider must allow porting, they may require additional documentation before approving the request.
- Canceling too early may interrupt your service and delay the porting process.
What is a CSR and How Do I Obtain One?
- A Customer Service Record (CSR) contains the official details of your current phone service.
- To request a CSR:
- Contact your current provider (Losing Service Provider or LSP).
- Ask for the most recent CSR-this may take up to 72 hours to receive.
- Submit the CSR with your Letter of Agency (LOA) and make sure to:
- Include all phone numbers you intend to port.
- Double-check that the LOA matches the CSR exactly.
- Attach a recent phone bill if available-it helps verify account details and can speed up the process.
- Per FCC guidelines:
- Your provider must allow porting, even if there’s an outstanding balance or early termination fee.
- They are allowed to verify the request before releasing your numbers.
